Hot and dry conditions will continue through much of the weekend. Although some areas may see a few sprinkles Sunday morning, most locations should see the chance for showers and storms hold off until Sunday evening. High temperatures will remain in the upper 80s and 90s, warmest along and west of the James River Valley toward central South Dakota, where heat indices may approach or possibly top 100 degrees Friday and again Sunday. Take care to reduce the risk of heat illness, especially if you will be spending extended periods of time outdoors.
